Every option is certified to EN ISO 20345, which is the European standard that means your footwear has been independently tested to protect you at work.

The toe protection across most of the range is nanocomposite - rated to withstand the same heavy impacts as steel, but considerably lighter. Less weight on your feet across a full shift makes a real difference by the end of it. A number of options also include puncture-resistant midsoles that provide a protective layer in the sole to stop sharp objects penetrating through to your foot.

Are these safety work shoes actually comfortable for long shifts?

Safety footwear has a reputation for being heavy and uncomfortable. These are intentionally designed differently. Select styles feature cushioned midsoles that absorb the impact of hard floors across a full shift. The nanocomposite toe caps are also considerably lighter than steel, which makes a real difference to how your legs feel by the end of the day. Many options also include removable insoles compatible with custom orthotics if you need extra support.

What does EN ISO 20345 certified actually mean?

It means the shoe has been independently tested and certified to protect against specific workplace hazards. At a minimum, EN ISO 20345 includes toe protection tested to withstand a 200-joule impact, which is roughly equivalent to a heavy object dropping onto your foot. Beyond that, different certifications within the standard cover additional protections like slip resistance, puncture resistance, waterproofing and static discharge. Why do your safety shoes not have steel toe caps?

The majority feature nanocomposite toe caps - they offer the same 200-joule impact protection as steel under EN ISO 20345, but the key difference is that they weigh significantly less. Over the course of a long shift, that weight difference adds up. Your feet carry less, your legs tire less, and you still have the same level of certified protection underfoot.
